Having enjoyed singing from a very early age, at age 6 James won a scholarship to Canterbury Cathedral Choir. which he joined when 8.
For 5 years this enabled him to gain a classical/choral music education. He developed his voice control, performance skills and honed his love of singing. As a key member of this professional choir he had the opportunity to perform many difficult and exposed solos including the Miserere Mei by Allegri, and The Advent Responsory by Marlow.
After the Cathedral Choir, James has completed an ARSM singing diploma aged 13, and now, with his new Tenor voice, is in the process of completing an ATCL singing diploma.
From the age of 5 James has been a member of a community choir – Village Voices. This has given him, when not in Canterbury, regular opportunities to sing at local weddings and in care homes as well as the weekly meetings, often singing solos.
James is also involved in numerous ensembles at his school, including the Chapel and Chamber Choirs.
James is a natural musician and is comfortable singing in a wide range of styles.
